NatsuCon 2011

Ahh! I have a convention coming up in August that I'm so excited about!

It's NatsuCon 2011, and it's in Collinsville, Illinois. I CANNOT wait!
I get to see all the friends I made last year and I'm looking forward to all the new friends I will be making! I'm also excited to get the costumes I'm making done.

So far some of the main events I'm looking forward to are the date auction, the masked ball, DEFINITELY the rave, the swimsuit contest, and lots and lots of panels. It's going to be so much fun!

But kind of expensive..oh well.
Oh! And they already have a few guests: The Nerdfit Network and Samurai Dan. The Nerdfit Network is made up of these two hilarious guys that were at NatsuCon last year, so I'm definitely looking forward to them this year. Samurai Dan was a Kawa Kon and he was pretty awesome, so I'm looking forward to him as well =D

As far as cosplays go, here's the lineup:
Friday-
Temari, fourth outfit
Lady Gaga, masked ball

Saturday-
Ukraine from Hetalia
Rave Girl, for, well, the rave

Sunday-
Temari, fourth outfit

My best friend Frances, who goes to all the conventions with me, is also coming, so it's going to be alot of fun!

But that's all for now. I'm done geeking out. Haha.

Anime Stereotypes

I gave up on the challenge. No more.

So, this week, I've decided to talk about the stereotypical characters often seen in anime.
In every anime, there's always characters that share.. specific characteristics with characters from other animes. For example, there's always the:
Pervert and the accidental pervert (meaning, he's the one who accidentally walks into the girls locker room)
The random people who are actually Asian but never get mentioned in the show
The bit**y princess-like girl
The arrogant, tall, quiet guys
The spazzy fan girls
The klutzy guys
The twins
The yaoi fan girls
The angsty guy
The girl who is secretly crazy
The weird girl who has supernatural powers
The crossdresser
The spazzy girl everybody hates
The girl who is part cat
Oh, and every anime has a cat. Heh, I guess Japan just really loves cats =)

The list is endless! But I know for a fact there's almost all of these stereotypes in every anime I watch, and it leads to an interesting show. Kuroshitsuji has the pervert, the crossdresser, the weird girl who has supernatural powers, the spazzy girl everyone hates, the angsty guy, the girl who is secretly crazy, the twins, and the arrogant, tall, dark guy, cats. Oh! And the foreigners too.
It's also fun to go through anime's and find all these stereotypes. They also help people decide what their favorite characters are (like myself, haha).
Now I feel the need to post a picture of Grell =O
But I'm not going to.
That's all for now!

Anime Challenge Day 2

Day Two Of The Anime Challenge-Next Cosplay

I have two cosplays planned for a next convention
The top picture is Ukraine from Hetalia, and the bottom one is Temari from Naruto (the girl..the girl on the right). I'm considering doing a third cosplay, depending on how my money supply is when it get closer to the convention. For Ukraine, I think I'm just going to buy the costume and wig, just because it'd be ALOT simpler. For Temari, I'm just going to make it all. I already have the leg covers, shoes, headband, and the fan, so everything else should be pretty simple. Yay for nerd stuff!

Until next week~

30 Day Anime Challenge

So, to break out of the boring way I've been posting blogs, I decided to bring something new-the 30 Day Anime Picture Challenge! Basically you have to post a new blog/picture everyday for 30 days to complete the challenge.

So, Day One is Very First Anime.
Sailor Moon!
I started watching this anime when I was five years old. Not just that either, I was OBSESSED with the show. I use to try to dress up like the girls from the show because I loved them alot! I guess you could say this was my first cosplay in a way too. Haha.

Shoujo Beat

Hey~! KandiRaver here, giving my nerd thoughts on the world of anime!

This week I'm going to tell you about another magazine I read that has to do with anime. The last one, Shonen Jump, was geared towards..manlier audiences. But this one is especially for the girls! Yay!
It's called Shojo Beat.
Okay, so there's the cover...and yes, I picked it just because I'm a fangirl of Zero from Vampire Knight.
(Pst, that's who's on the cover!)

Shoujo showcases girly, romantic anime's like Vampire Knight, Ouran High School Host Club, Fruit's Basket, and Sailor Moon (I have seen all of those and they are fantastic~!)
But that's basically all it is. Usually the magazine has random manga in it from all these different shows that are very entertaining to read.
Sometimes, the magazine will be all about one anime, like Vampire Knight, and that's all the magazine will be about! I love it!

But anyway, that's all I really have for today. See you next week!~♥

Character Of The Week

Hey! KandiRaver here yet again, giving my nerd thoughts on the world of anime!

It's once again time for character of the week, so this week it's America from Axis
Powers: Hetalia!

And yes, I purposely picked America because the sterotype he plays is sooo
funny!

Here's some facts about America:
Name- Arthur
Date Of Birth- July 4th, 1776

In Hetalia, America is usually seen taking control of the allie meetings and always
appointing himself as the hero..because that's really what America does in
real life. XD He is usually seen with a hamburger and milkshake in his hand, but
somehow he stays in remarkable shape for all the artery clogging burgers he eats.
He has a hate/love relationship with England ever since the revolutionary war.

America is descended from England's family.

See ya next week!

Anime Of The Week

Hey! KandiRaver here, giving my nerd thoughts on the world of anime!

It's once again time for anime of the week again, so this week I'll be talking about..
Axis Powers: Hetalia!

Hetalia is set in the time period of WWII, and includes all the countries involved..only one thing though. The countries are all made into stereotypical people. I'm not going to list all the countries, but here are a few of the main ones:
Italy
Germany
Japan
America
England
France
China
Russia
These are the main characters throughout the series, although they are many many more countries I did not mention. There's no main point to the series, because it's basically just telling history in a funny, sarcastic, smart-a** way. Oh! There's another important character I left out..
Chibitalia!! Chibitalia is like, a mini series inside Hetalia, about Italy growing up and turning into a big..boy..country..thing. For example, it goes through the Renaissance, and how Austria use to own Italy. Soo..that's about all to Hetalia. Oh! And I forgot to mention the country I'm going to be cosplaying from this show..
Ukraine!

Okay, that's all for now though. See ya next week!
